Our History

1980s

Our firm has been providing Management advisory services to leadership teams since 1981. Our roots are in the telecommunications industry. Modest steps were taken during this period to reregulate the Canadian telecommunications industry. During this period we assisted entrepreneurial innovative companies find a foothold in an industry dominated by monopoly providers. In this decade, tools became available that provided for a more rigorous approach to the development of business strategy and a better understanding of the roles, tasks and responsibilities of management. For advisory firms such as ours, Michael Porter`s and Peter Drucker`s writings were particularly helpful in assisting leaders craft and execute more effective business strategies and help leaders define and achieve their ambitious aspirations for their firms.

1990s

During the 1990s we were called upon to assist in the more intensive restructuring of the Canadian telecommunications industry. Our strategies on behalf of several business groups unleashed the power of choice and placed downward pressure on prices and upward pressure on services. Midway through this decade leading Canadian telecommunications service providers engaged us to assist them in creating organizations that were more responsive to the needs of customers. During this period of intensive globalization we enlarged our scope to assist firms in the broader global issues which impact enterprise development and wealth creation.

2000s

The Millennium decade was a period of remarkable highs and lows for the world, Canada, and our firm. We saw transformational changes in the global economy that created new opportunities for trade, productivity, and wealth creation. Our firm survived the dotcom bust despite the sudden market exit of a number of our clients. The 9/11 terrorist attacks, Canada’s involvement in Afghanistan, and the global financial crisis of 2008 were vicious reminders peace and prosperity cannot be assumed. Throughout the decade we diversified beyond our core markets to serve a broader scope of organizations including firms in electricity distribution, cosmetics, insurance, and financial services. We also became the trusted advisors to the leaders of FP 500 Canadian Corporations.

Next Decade

The previous decade only set the table for what promises to be a violent, volatile decade economically. Canadian business, government, and our institutions will be buffeted by pressures to achieve a less expensive cost structure. Our economy will be transformed. The challenge for organizations will be to capture opportunity created by change. The challenge for leaders will be to drive a successful organizational transformation. During this decade of tumultuous change we expect to assist leaders define and achieve their company’s ambitious aspirations and be agents of change.
